Are you expecting a tax refund this year? If you are, and you have been thinking about getting rid of your glasses and contacts forever, consider using your refund to pay for permanent vision correction with LASIK.
LASIK may cost more than contacts or glasses over the course of a single year, but it will pay for itself in eye care savings after several years. As far as surgical procedures go, it is fairly affordable. You may be surprised to find out that your tax refund will cover some, or maybe all of the procedure.
Though your health insurance probably won’t pay for LASIK, your Health Savings Account or Flexible Spending Account may. Check with your plan and find out if the money in your FSA or HSA can be used to pay for LASIK. In most cases, it can.
Once you’ve reviewed your finances, make your appointment for your free LASIK consultation with Dr. William Boothe. He has been performing LASIK at Boothe Laser Center since the 1990s, and is one of the most experienced surgeons in the world. No one has performed LASIK more times than Dr. Boothe.

Wearing glasses for better vision beats the alternative of not being able to see. However, there are many complaints that go along with wearing glasses. If you’ve been wearing glasses for very long, you’ve probably experienced most, if not all of these.
- Glasses get smudged, smeared, and dirty throughout the day. This can make it hard to see through them. If you are active, you may find you have to clean your glasses more than once a day.
- Glasses also scratch and the frames can be bent or broken. Active people also find that they have to replace their glasses more often, which can be expensive.
- Glasses can be uncomfortable to wear. They press on the bridge of your nose, put pressure on the backs of your ears, and can slide down your face when you exercise.
- Glasses can also affect your self-esteem. If you are not comfortable with how you look in glasses, you may find yourself avoiding social situations.
Fortunately, you don’t have to live with glasses forever. Once your prescription is stable and has not changed for over a year, you are over 18, and don’t have any eye diseases, you may be a candidate for laser vision correction surgery, or LASIK. You can find out by having a free consultation at Boothe Laser Center. Dr. William Boothe has been performing LASIK at Boothe Laser Center for 15 years, and is one of the most experienced surgeons in the world. Let him review your eye history and vision, and see if you are a good candidate for LASIK.

Many people get excited when they find out about LASIK vision correction surgery. If you have been complaining about your glasses and contacts for a while, you may feel like you can’t wait to have your vision permanently fixed so that you can see clearly.
There are a few cases where LASIK should not be performed, however. Here are some instances where you should not consider having laser vision correction surgery.
- Women that are pregnant or nursing should not have LASIK, due to the possible fluctuations in their eyesight because of hormone levels.
- People that participate in contact sports where they might get blows to the head, such as boxing or martial arts, should avoid LASIK, due to the possibility of complications with the cornea flap.
- People that have changed their prescription within the last year, or who are taking a medication that can cause vision changes, should not consider LASIK until their eyes have stabilized.
- People with thin corneas, large pupils, or who have had previous refractive surgery such as LASIK or PRK should be carefully evaluated before undergoing LASIK.
To find out if you are a good candidate for the procedure, you will need to have your vision reviewed by Dr. William Boothe at Boothe Laser Center. Once Dr. Boothe has evaluated your eyesight, you can discuss your surgical options with him.

Many patients look at LASIK as a cure-all for their vision problems. Before you make your appointment for your LASIK procedure, however, it’s important to review a few facts.
For one thing, LASIK is a surgical procedure. Like all surgery, LASIK comes with risks. There is a potential, though small, that your eyesight can be damaged from the LASIK procedure. There is also a chance that your correction won’t be right the first time, and that you will have to have a follow-up procedure to fix it.
Another thing that can happen is that some patients expect too much from the LASIK procedure. During your consultation at Boothe Laser Center, the doctor will discuss how there are no guarantees of results after surgery. It is important to remember that while your vision will probably be significantly better, there are no guarantees that it will be perfect.
All LASIK patients need to remember that they are responsible for their follow-up care and treatment. After surgery, you need to take care of your eyes the way Dr. Boothe instructs you. This will lessen your risk of infection, and will improve your chances of good results.

After you undergo LASIK surgery to correct your eyesight, what kind of a recovery can you expect? It’s important to know how long it will be before you can see and feel good again, before you commit to having eye surgery.
You will be happy to know that the recovery time for LASIK is extremely short. Immediately after the surgery, you will probably find that your eyes are irritated, and your vision may still be blurry. LASIK surgery doesn’t require any stitches, even though a flap is cut in your cornea. The flap will seal itself down on its own and heal without any outside help. Most patients are ready to go back to work after LASIK within two days of their procedure.
You can review your concerns about your recovery, as well as any other questions you have, at your free consultation with Dr. Boothe. He has been performing LASIK at Boothe Laser Center since the 1990s. Dr. Boothe has performed over 121,000 LASIK procedures to date and will take good care of your eyes.

After having LASIK surgery, will you ever need to have it again?
This is something that many people ask about before they undergo LASIK for permanent vision correction, and is a good question to bring up with your surgeon.
Most people will not need to undergo LASIK a second time. That’s because doctors are careful to screen out patients whose eyes are still changing. That’s one of the reasons why you can’t have LASIK until you are at least 18 years old, and also why you should wait until your prescription has been stable for at least one year.
But if you do have to undergo LASIK again, it’s called an enhancement. One of the most common enhancements that people undergo after they’ve had LASIK is to correct their vision for presbyopia. Presbyopia is when your eyes can’t focus up close and you need reading glasses. Most people develop presbyopia naturally some time in their 40s. This can be corrected by enhancing one eye to be able to see up close, while leaving your other eye to see at a distance.
Another reason for enhancements is if the original procedure did not go as planned. Though it’s unusual, sometimes during LASIK your vision is corrected too much, or not enough. This is easily fixed with an enhancement in a few months after your eye has healed from the original procedure.
When you have your free consultation at Boothe Laser Center, Dr. William Boothe will discuss these possible situations with you, as well as review any questions that you may have about the procedure. Make your appointment today, so that you can begin seeing clearly soon.

All surgical procedures take some time to heal, after they are done. It can take anywhere from a few days to several weeks to heal, depending on the procedure. Fortunately, when you undergo LASIK eye surgery at Boothe Laser Center to permanently correct your eyesight, you will not require much healing time.
The LASIK procedure involves cutting a flap in your cornea, so that your surgeon, Dr. William Boothe, can reshape the tissue underneath and allow you to see. When the flap is put back into place, it re-adheres on its own, without requiring any stitches. Because of this, you will feel very little discomfort as your eyes heal.
Though it can take up to a few months for your eyes to fully heal, most people experience greatly improved vision within a day of their LASIK procedure, and very little discomfort. This means that you will be able to go back to work soon. It’s recommended that you wait at least two days after your procedure to go back to work, though some people go back the next day.
When you consider that there is such a short healing time with LASIK, it makes sense to have the procedure and have permanently clear vision. With just a few minutes to perform LASIK and only a day or two of downtime, you can be rid of your glasses and contacts, forever.

One question that many people have, when they are thinking about having LASIK surgery at Boothe Laser Center, is whether or not the procedure is covered by their insurance.
The only way to know for sure is to check with your insurance company. While there are some insurance plans that will cover part of the procedure, generally most won’t cover LASIK surgery. The reason why is that vision correction surgery is not considered to be a medically necessary treatment.
While it’s unfortunate that your insurance probably won’t cover it, there are options available if you need help in paying for your LASIK procedure. Contact Boothe Laser Center to see about financing programs for LASIK surgery. They have a number of different programs available, and are likely to have one that suits your needs.
In the meantime, you can make your appointment for your free consultation with Dr. William Boothe. He will review your prescription and medical history, and discuss the LASIK procedure with you.
